Methods

We use various research methods to answer important policy questions in a timely, scientifically sound manner, considering public and community opinions while efficiently using resources.

Our methods include:

  • evidence synthesis: combining findings from existing research to inform recommendations and next steps;
  • big data analysis: analyses of existing datasets that includes information about large numbers of people or organisations;
  • community engagement: listening to the voices of communities and organisations who understand the lives of people aged 50 and older;
  • inclusive research: Incorporating the experiences of all older adults, caregivers, and the public;
  • disseminating our work: sharing our research with as many people as possible to maximise our potential for impact.

Crucial to our work are our experts by experience, these include members of the public, caregivers, professionals, community partners, and representatives from local, regional, and national organisations. They influence how we design, conduct, deliver and disseminate our research through direct involvement and engagement in our work.
